The Intervention Process Starts with a Phone Call
You call me directly to give me an initial assessment of the situation. At that time, I will gather data necessary to have an effective pre-intervention meeting with the family support system. Typically, interventions can be arranged and executed on short notice as need be.
Preferred Treatment Program
If you have a treatment program you want to use, I will initiate contact with that Program to coordinate schedules. Otherwise, I will help you to choose the best program for your loved one, matching your loved one’s circumstances to one of the many programs with which I have developed a working relationship.
I will drive to any intervention in Central Florida or fly to you via Tampa International Airport. We will schedule the pre-intervention meeting — which should only require 1-2 hours—and the place for the formal intervention.
The Pre-Intervention Meeting
The pre-intervention meeting can be conducted the night before the intervention or the morning of the intervention, whichever is preferable to the family/support group.
The intervention can take place in a family member’s home, at the home of the addicted person, at the workplace, in a lawyer’s office, or at any other location where you are certain we can meet with your addicted loved one.
Bring a bag packed with clothes and toiletries to the intervention; the goal is to leave the intervention and go directly to treatment, either by car of plane. If the need arises, as is often the case, I will accompany the addict to treatment and facilitate his admission.
